I'm aghast how mush people spend on their wedding and how little they invest in their marriage.
Scott Pape, the "Barefoot Investor" says the average wedding in Australia now costs $36,000, and then there is the honeymoon on top of that. Banks are happy to lend people money for any purpose as long as they can see a way to get the money back and so are offering wedding loans.
Ironically money pressure is the biggest cause of relationship breakdown. So your wedding loan could last longer than your marriage.
To anyone planning to get married, don't go overboard on the wedding or on the honeymoon. Nobody cares that much about your "big day", and a week later nobody will remember much about the food or the venue.
It's better to spend less on the wedding and invest more into your home.
