Prophetic Pests

Yesterday morning, before church I opened the bathroom cupboard to get out a broom and discovered termites. :yikes:

Termites are a problem the world over and can undermine a building by destroying the timber framework that hold a building together, while leaving no visible sign of their presence.

This morning we called the pest control people and they came to the church where they confirmed that the cupboard had indeed been pretty well eaten out by the little creatures. Fortunately they have not eaten into anything structural and are only contained in one spot. The men said that this particular species are not as bad as some as they don't spread as rapidly. They applied some lethal powder which the termites will take back to the nest and kill the entire colony including the queen.

We see this incident as a warning from the Holy Spirit. There are evil spirits which can influence key people in the church to undermine the whole of the church even if there is nothing untoward visible on the outside.

Deception prevents people from seeing their true spiritual state or leads them into worshipping a false god.

Jealousy brings division and enmity between people.

The destructive Jezebel spirit can wreak havoc in a church by unleashing destructive ambition.

Seductive spirits lead people astray by stroking their ego and telling them that they are better than other people.

Religious spirits lead people to think that their own efforts, prayers, traditions or practices will make God love them.

All of these things can be lurking in a church, like termites in a dark place.

The good news is that although these things can be destructive if we don't know they are there, they are very easily dealt with once exposed. God's power is stronger than any demonic power. All we need to do is seek God's revelation of what is present and command it to leave in the name of Jesus.

Termites don't like light. They flee when they are exposed. We have been instructed to leave them alone for two weeks while the poison does its work.

Demons also do not like the light of God's word exposing their deeds.

We will continue to watch out for the return of our creepy creatures. We will also be vigilant to ensure that the Evil One is kept away from our church.

  1. 'Evil spirits which can influence key people in the church to undermine the whole of the church'. Maybe we all need to be letting God search us and show us so we can deal with it in the mighty name of Jesus. Not a time of shame re: what is in/affecting us but a time of humility and cleansing. Otherwise, if the structure is being attacked and eaten away the rest might crumble :(
