Reflection on 1 Corinthians 15:1-11

Scripture
I passed on to you what was most important and what was passed on to me. Christ died for our sins, just as the scriptures said. He was buried and he was raised from the dead on the third day, just as the scriptures said.

Observation
There are an amazing number of testimonies to the truth of the resurrection, so many in fact that it should be the least doubted fact of history.

* The Old Testament predicted that the Messiah would die for our sins and come back to life.
* Over 500 eye witnesses at the time saw the risen Jesus
* Millions of people throughout history confirm that “Jesus is alive”
* the presence of the Holy Spirit in our lives, which was conditional on the resurrection of Jesus

Application
To have doubts about the reality of God is normal. When bad things happen, when prayers seem ineffective, when God seems distant- these are all occasions when we wonder if God is really there. Of course, satan is always ready to push the buttons of unbelief.

When we go through the valley, though, we need to remember the promise of Jesus, “I will never leave you or forsake you.” We also need to remember the eye witness testimony and the record of Scripture.

Jesus is alive.

Prayer
Father, I confess that I struggle with doubts sometimes. I forget your presence and miss the signs of your activity in my life. Help me Lord to cling tenaciously to you and help me in my times of unbelief. Amen.
