“I saw this happen to Jesus so I testify that he is the Chosen One of God.”
Observation
John testifies to his disciples on two separate occasions that Jesus is the Lamb of God who takes away the sins of the world.
Two of John's disciples- one of them Andrew- go to follow Jesus.
Andrew brings his brother Simon to meet Jesus. Jesus renames him Cephas or Peter.
Application
John testifies to the importance of Jesus. He recognises that Jesus is greater then he is because Jesus existed from the very beginning.
John doesn't complain when his disciples go off to follow Jesus. He was not building a religious empire but preparing the way.
Likewise, my life should not be about me but only about pointing to Jesus.
Prayer
Father it is so heard to keep my eyes away from myself sometimes. Help me to see that my whole life should be dedicated to showing others what you look like. Give me the grace to fulfil that role I ask. Amen.
