Scripture
He said to me “You are my servant Israel and you will bring me glory.”
Observation
The Lord's servant was called before his birth. He is the servant who brings glory to God.
Even when his work seems to bear no fruit he trust in God's promised reward.
The servant is not just for Israel's restoration but is truly a light for the Gentiles.
Application
The primary application of the servant passages in Isaiah is to Jesus who came into the world as a servant to redeem Israel and to bring light to the nations. But these passages also apply to us the church. We share the ministry of Christ.
So we are called to be light to the nations, bringing the hope of the gospel to those who are far off from God.
When we feel overwhelmed by the task, like Jesus we are to leave it all in the Father's hands trusting Him to bring the results and rewards for our labours.
Prayer
Father help me to see that it is obedience to your call that matters not the results. Help me to trust you even when it seems that I am not getting anywhere. Amen.
Just what I needed to hear!
