Scripture
Pray this way for kings and all who are in authority so that we can live peaceful and quiet lives marked by godliness and dignity.
Observation
It is good to pray for all people- not just our christian brothers and sisters but everyone including people in places of authority.
God wants everyone to be saved through Christ. There is no other way of redemption. Christ died to set us free- this is the truth preached everywhere by Paul.
Application
We live in an age of “tolerance where every ideology, every sexual deviancy, every religious idea is encouraged. The only intolerable idea is that there is only one way to live, one true religion, one salvation.
This is precisely the christian message. There is only one Saviour. It is simply not true that many roads lead up the mountain as what we need is a mediator or a saviour not a road.
The exclusivity of the gospel upsets some people- even some christians. The fact is that if God has provided just one way of salvation then we need to proclaim that to all and sundry- and let God deal with the offence.
Prayer
Thank you Lord for providing a clear path of salvation through faith in Christ. Amen.
