Scripture
Morning by morning he wakes me and opens my eyes to his will.
Observation
This is one of the Suffering Servant passages where Isaiah sees the purpose of Messiah's suffering.
The Lord gives him wisdom, not for his own benefit or to puff him up with pride, but to comfort the weary.
The Lord speaks and the servant obeys, not rebelling or turning away. Despite suffering and opposition, he will be vindicated by the Lord and his enemies destroyed.
Application
As we approach Easter, it is appropriate to meditate on the sufferings of Jesus.
Grace did not come without a cost.
Jesus was beaten, mocked, abandoned, tortured, cursed and finally deserted even by God. All of this was to fulfil the Law and to bring us out of the kingdom of darkness into His glorious light.
He did it all for us in obedience and surrender to His Father.
Prayer
Lord Jesus, it was always the plan that you would lay down your life for the sake of sinners. Help me to appreciate the depth of your love for me. Amen.
Every morning I greet the day and thank God for it and all it will contain!
