Acme Triumphs Again

On Saturday night some morons walking home from a very loud party decided to pull out our letterbox and smash it to pieces on the other side of the road. We didn't notice it until Sunday afternoon when Margaret wondered if we were having a mail delivery as we sometimes do on the Sundays before Christmas. Our postman told us that they had done the same thing to at least one other letter box.

I don't understand the mentality of people who do that sort of mindless destruction- even allowing for their drunkenness. And as it was a Rugby Club party it does nothing for the image of the club or the sport.

So it was time to pull out the mail box Margaret bought ages ago at a garage sale. I decided that this one would be concreted into the hole to discourage a repeat offence.

Last week I drove a truck for the first time in my life and today it was time for an introduction to concreting. I went down to the hardware shop and bought a bag of quick setting concrete. I thought this was a figment of the old Road Runner cartoons, but it's really excellent stuff. Literally just add water into the hole (2.4 litres), pour in the concrete mix and it sets within 15 minutes.

The bag didn't say "Acme" which was the coyote's favourite brand for everything, but it's mighty good stuff.
