The Power of Prayer

We had an awesome day in church yesterday- but that followed an even more awesome week.

For a while we've had some challenges. People have been under enormous pressure, cell groups have been floundering for various reasons and some other events have left me feeling anxious and bemused.

Last Sunday night we had just three of us at night church and we decided to put in some quality prayer time. It was one of those occasions where it was clearly a God-led time. The prayers were co-ordinated, heart-felt and specific. We felt at the end of the time that our prayers had changed the spiritual climate in our church.

During the week it became evident that the cell groups were rising from their morass and that some long-standing individual problems had been resolved.

Yesterday's church service was powerful. The praise time was excellent and we had a long sharing time in which some people shared honestly about their struggles. There was even a testimony about the power of God and the grace that comes through cell groups.

Our prayers clearly did have a powerful effect. Thank you Lord!

Therefore confess your sins to each other and pray for each other so that you may be healed. The prayer of a righteous man is powerful and effective. James 5:16
