Reflection on 2 Timothy 3:14- 4:5

Scripture
All Scripture is inspired by God and is useful to teach us what is true and to make us realise what is wrong in our lives. It corrects us when we are wrong and teaches us to do what is right.

Observation
Paul tells Timothy to remain faithful to the things he has been taught. He can trust them because of the character of his teachers.

All scripture comes from God and is the basis for what we believe and do. So Paul exhorts Timothy to keep up the work of preaching and teaching whether it is a favourable time or not.

Application
The Bible should be the heart of our doctrine and behaviour. The Bible can correct wrong thinking and also wrong actions. It teaches us how to love God and how to love our neighbours.

Those who are called to the task of preaching must ensure that what we preach is Bible-based and that we teach sound doctrine rather than the fad of the month which just appeals to the itching ears of sinful people.

Prayer
Help me, Holy Spirit, to be faithful to Jesus by being attentive to the word you inspired. Amen.
