Flash mobs have been around for a while now. If you're not familiar with the term, a flash mob is where a group of people in a crowded city location on a prearranged signal all do something unusual such as freezing for two minutes. I guess the central meme is out of the seemingly chaotic disconnected state of a crowd comes something that is unexpected.
I tried to organise one in Narrabri last year for Easter whereby a whole bunch of people would in the main street would take off their shoes and walk to a designated spot for a prayer meeting. That got shouted down by my colleagues as too radical.
Anyway here are a few flashmob entertainment moments that people have performed in different locations.
What I love in them is the clear sense of joy and wonder that lights up in the faces of the crowds... there is even suspense in one of them when it appears the show is going to be busted by a security guard. It seems to me that part of the purpose of christians is to give people that joy that hints of heaven so that they will be drawn to Christ the true joy-giver.
Then there is this one...
