The Lord searches vainly
For a people
a faithful people
Why are your hearts
colder than a polar winter?
Why are your spirits
harder than diamonds?
I loved you
I redeemed you
Bestowed riches upon you
But you turned to other gods
The gods of greed and fatness
“We don't need the Lord”
said this people
They rejected the water of life
and drank bitter water
They turned from living streams
to build leaky dams
You preachers and pastors
You've become clowns and hucksters.
You talk long, tickling ears
feel good, happy endings
but no cross or Christ.
Revival! Renewal!
Holy Spirit!
Dare you seek me?
Dare you turn to me?
