Jesus Christ is the same yesterday, today and for ever.
Observation
This is a concluding section of practical instructions for Christians.
We are to keep loving one another, showing hospitality to strangers and caring for the persecuted brothers and sisters. Adultery and greed are to be avoided. Leaders are to be honoured and imitated.
Jesus Christ doesn't change, and so we must avoid the attractions of new teachings and of legalism.
Jesus died as our sacrifice and therefore we should follow him to the place of rejection, knowing that he will raise us to eternal life.
Application
Faith can never be just religious theory. Our trust in Jesus must result in a transformed life. Salvation and holiness, righteousness and love go together. Being saved by Jesus means that we must become like Him.
Prayer
Father, I think you for the gift of salvation that comes through Jesus. Help me always to live a life that honours Jesus. Amen.
