Faith is the confidence that what we hope for will actually happen; it gives us assurance about things we cannot see.
Observation
Faith is the key to our relationship with God. It means trusting in Him. It is the key to coming into His presence because without faith it is impossible to please Him.
Faith allowed Abel to please God and Enoch to be taken up to heaven. Faith led Noah to build the ark and thus to be judged as righteous. Faith led Abraham to go to a land he had never seen and Sarah to have a child even though she was past the age for child-bearing.
These people did not see the fulfilment of God's plan, but their faith assured them that it would come to pass.
Application
Faith in God, trusting in Him is the key to Christian living.
* We come into relationship with God by trusting that Jesus' death on the crossmakes us right.
* We grow in our walk by believing that the Bible is true
* We learn to trust that God answers prayer even though we can see no physical way to link our prayers to a result.
* We grow by taking hold of God's promises and applying them by faith to our lives
Prayer
Lord I believe, help me in my unbelief. I have a mustard seed of faith- please take it and grow it. Help me to trust you in all things. Amen.
