In Buckinghamshire, west of London, about 100 people, including 20 children, spent the night in the John Lewis department store after being snowed in.
"There was no way that I was going to throw customers out into that," said store managing director Deborah Strazza.
"Basically we made up the beds and they all snuggled down in the bed department."
In the radio news report this morning they added that the children had a great time in the toy department.
What a great act of kindness by the store.
I have found that Department Stores are pretty user friendly. As kids we use to play in the toy scetion at Harrods and at Myers this year the Santa Express is right next to the chair and bed section so that weary parents can rest as they wait in the queue so their children can ride the train and there weren't any salespeople around!
ReplyDeleteThat's good. I think that with all the emphasis on security and OHS these days, commercial establishments often find it hard to think outside the policies and procedures manual. It's good to hear of cases where they show some humanity.
