Margaret and I got up to watch it teem down- it happens when you live in the country.
This morning we were surprised to see the creek at flood levels, starting to lap onto the football fields on the other side. Just down from us there is a low bridge with a path and there isn't much space for the water to flow so it's backing up a bit. The lake has some water in it but it will take a lot more rain yet to fill it.

This is the lake-- in normal times the water would stretch right up to where I was standing. Still, it's a lot happier than the dry dirt of a few days ago.
It all looks very wet! A wonderful answer to prayers!
ReplyDeleteIt's even wetter this evening. We had 66 mm in 24 hours which is quite close to our average for the whole onth of December. The forecast is for more rain for the rest of the week.This afternoon the creek rose quite rapidly coming up to the fences of the lower lying properties of the street. The rapid rise in the water level suggests that it was coming in from the River which seems to overflow into the creek when it gets to a certain height.Yes it's a great answer to many prayers.Ironic twist... a few weeks ago helicopters were based in Narrabri to assist with bushfires. Today they have moved one back in to assist with flood rescues, mainly on isolated rural properties.
