We had a particularly powerful prayer meeting tonight even though there were just three of us.
One thing we were praying into was the spiritual forces that seem to be influencing the weather lately. Not only has it been particularly hot, showers and potential cool fronts have gone out of their way to avoid Narrabri.
As we were praying I had a revelation about some "strange" people who visited Narrabri several months ago. Although they anticipated that the church here would welcome them with open arms as the end-time prophets preparing the way for the establishment of the New Jerusalem in this region (yes, really), we made sure that all the churches were fore-warned. Tonight I felt that they may have cursed the land as they left and that this was affecting the weather. So we prayed about that, breaking the curses and the power of witchcraft.
A little while later, Margaret saw a black snake near the door of the church. She screamed and then called Tim and James while I kept watch- I wasn't going to get too close without shoes on!
James was the hero, flushing the red-bellied black snake into the open and then killing it with great bravery and skill (and a hoe).
Interesting connection that a snake comes into the building while we are praying into this spiritual warfare area. It could be a coincidence, but I think not.
It is SO good that God has power to overcome all evil. This is an awesome example of it!
ReplyDeleteInterestingly we had a brief shower of rain (less than 1 mm) the next morning and the air has cooled off somewhat since, coming back to more normal conditions. It was actually cold this morning! Something has definitely changed.
ReplyDeleteI was going to the Baptist, then the Lutheran church, and although they belived that evil existed, it was more or less thought that evil was just something that we had to put up with and try not to fall into it, but we really couldn't do anything about it. My son went to the Pentecostal church and talked about speaking to the evil entities and demanding that they leave citing the authority of the power and blood of Jesus. I was very sceptical, but let him go ahead and there was an immediate change in the atmosphere and an immediate change in the way things happened in our home. I believe that what you say is true. No coincidence.
ReplyDeleteHi Lois, I think there has to be some balance in there. We have authority over the evil spirits and can command them to leave. I encourage people to go through their homes and command the spirits to leave, if their home feels troubled in some way.On the other hand, we can't blame satan for our own sin or for the sin of others against us. And sometimes God uses things that are unpleasant to discipline us and make us stronger in the faith.Sometimes there are also regional or cultural entities that have reign over large areas or groups. We need to make sure that we are listening to the Holy Spirit before taking on such things. That sounds complicated, but if we walk in close relationship with God, he will give us thoughts and ideas about how to take authority.A few years ago, it was very dry and in March I started to get the idea that I should go up to the mountains which overlook Narrabri and proclaim God's favour over the land and decree 6 inches of rain in 6 weeks. I struggled with that because it felt weird and over the top. Anyway by Anzac Day (25th April) I had the conviction that I had to do it and it was from God. We had 1 inch of rain the following week and by the end of 6 weeks we had had 6 inches, and it only fell in the area that could be seen from the mountain!God is good!
ReplyDeleteWhat an awesome experience!!
