Reflection on 2 Corinthians 4:3-6

Scripture
The god who rules this world has blinded the minds of unbelievers. They can't see the light which is the good news about our glorious Christ who shows what God is like.

Observation
God is light. He has sent the gospel of salvation into the world- and of course the Saviour Himself- to bring light into the darkness.

The light of Christ is everywhere you look. Yet people refuse or are unable to see it. As Paul says, satan has blinded their eyes and their minds.

We shouldn't be surprised when people are unable to see what is so obvious to us. If they are blind, they need healing.

Application
In our desire to see people saved, or churches grow, we often focus on methods or strategies. Friendship evangelism, four spiritual laws, cell church, evangelism explosion, the list goes on and on.

Methods do not win a spiritual battle.

Tracts, by themselves do not bring light.

Prayer must come first. Evangelism is, at its heart, a spiritual exercise. Revelation can only come through the Holy Spirit.

We must “bind the strong man” in prayer and then share the Good News.

And if people still refuse to see the light, keep praying that God will open their eyes.

Prayer
Lord I pray for my friends who do not know you yet. Please open the eyes of their heart. Heal the blindness that prevents them from seeing. Pour your mercy over their hearts and bring them to the place of repentance. Amen.
