I think these fires are overturning a lot of values.I heard today of a man who was walking with no shoes on. Someone driving by stopped him took off his shoes and gave them to him. The woman telling this account was in tears as she described this simple act of generosity that a week ago nobody would have even considered necessary or desirable.
It's true but sad that disasters often bring out the best in people, I guess because everything is reduced to survival and community.On the negative side there are the inevitable reports of looting of abandoned properties and of people posing as collectors for charity.Human nature- heady mix of good and evil.
