Spirit of Sonship Conference

Not only am I using Windows, because I had to buy a new laptop, it's got worse as the internet server I'm logged into won't easily support Opera or Firefox-- I have been forced to click that blue "e" for the first time in over a decade. I need to find out how to overcome that curse!

The Spirit of Sonship Conference is nearly finished.

It has been a blessed time and so many lives have been touched. One of the common themes that has been coming through is the need to honour those who are spiritual fathers to us. Today John alley taught about the passage in Hebrews 12:14-17 and the warning not to be like Esau who despised his birthright- he in effect despised his father and the household he was raised in.

For christians the application is that we must not despise our household of faith or the leaders over us' for that is our spiritual birthright. How often do christians damn their pastors with faint praise ("he's a lovely man but so boring"). The scripture says that this is equivalent to despising our inheritance and thus risking God's anger. Very dangerous ground!

I found the Lord reminding me of earlier times when I in effect stood in judgement of the pastors I knew. With youthful arrogance I had judged men of mature years and found them lacking. Now that I am of mature years myself, I am wanting the honour that I refused others. That is something I needed to repent of.

This is Dan Dyer from Dugger, Idaho. He was, along with John Alley, one of the speakers at the conference.

Yesterday he was talking about honour. His explanation of honour is that by giving something to another person we not only raise them up to a higher place, we add something to them. To illustrate the principle, he handed me a bible and said "this is honour... he now has more in his hands than he did before." A simple illustration, but several people, including Kenn Gill saw it as a prophetic action. After the talk was over, Kenn got me to stand up and Dan to pray for me. He said "Keith has a huge vision for a church of 1,000 people in a town of 7,000. I want everyone who can promise to stand with him in prayer to come and stand with him and bless him. Tell him you're believing for 1,000 out of 7,000." People lined up to come and bless me. In the end over 30 people said "I'm believing with you." I'm not sure whether I can add all those up or not to believe for 30,000 people- maybe I can :)

I felt so encouraged by this and feel that God is going to do something absolutely amazing.

UPDATE: I was able to ditch IE when someone revealed to me the password for the church's network, which is more friendly to other browsers. I would not have been able to to link to the photo above using IE- crazy!
