Calgary Photos

Thursday was a bitterly cold day. There had been massive snow storms right around the city, surprising the locals as spring had started to take hold. It snowed most of the night and into the morning. Around the city, the strong winds blew huge chinks of ice off the roofs of buildings. It was not pleasant, but your dauntless musketeers set forth in search of adventure.

Canadian geese seem to love the cold weather. They are majestic birds in flight or on the ground.

Here is the outside of the retreat centre where we are staying. It is a really nice building attached to the cathedral complex.

The city centre of Calgary is a mixture of older historical buildings and newer structures. It is a place with a real character to it.

Calgary is the headquarters for the Canada Pacific Railways. The railway played a huge role in opening up this part of Canada, allowing easier transportation across the nation.

Margaret loves tulips. I would have bought some for her but between quarantine, long flights and the fact that we still had two weeks here, it didn't seem practical. So I took the photo for her instead.

Michael and David were both surprised by the fact that Calgary is not Rockhampton and that heavier clothes are required than in a tropical winter.

Beware- tourist alert

The corridor on our floor of the retreat centre.

Our walk around the city was a great introduction, but it got even better the next day!
