Rocky Mountain Photos

On Friday, Ken Gill took us up to the Rocky Mountains. We had many stops to admire the breath taking scenery. Australia has nothing like the Rockies- even the Snowy Mountains are little hills in comparison. The combination of mountain, snow, blue sky and water was just awe inspiring.

We saw a number of unique animals such as Rocky Mountain Sheep and elk.

Here are a few photos to whet your appetite, but please browse my album.

Here are some Rocky Mountain sheep- a native animal related to the domestic sheep.

The first base of the Northwestern Mounted Police (later to become the Royal Canadian Mounted Police) at Canford not far out of Calgary.

This was taken at Bankhead. The site of a former railway construction village now dedicated to the Chinese labourers who were very cruelly treated during the construction of the railway.

At the summit over Banff. Ken Gill, our driver and good friend Mark, Michael Appleton, myself and David Hood.

I made a good friend in Banff. There are many young Aussies in Banff. they go for a year or two for the extended ski season and to enjoy a radically different lifestyle.

  2. Thanks Lois. I'll be adding more over the next few days, and blogging. We will be here until Wednesday, before flying home and meeting up with various relatives of your post mistress at the various Customs stops!
