Reflection on Proverbs 1:20-33

Scripture
For they hated knowledge and chose not to fear the Lord.

Observation
Wisdom calls out in the streets, calling for people to come and partake. Sadly many people refuse her invitation. People are so caught up in their own schemes and plots that they don't stop to think of consequences and outcomes.

Those who hate knowledge and wisdom when things are easy will not find them when times are tough. Folly reaps a crop of disaster, but if you pursue that course it's very difficult to turn around and start pursuing wisdom.

Application
This passage again equates fear of the Lord with wisdom.

To live a life of goodness and fruitfulness, we have to start by honouring God and seeking to live by His ways.

This isn't legalism because it's not saying that salvation comes through the law. What it is saying is that God has made us in such a way that our lives are more fulfilling when we follow His directions.

The path of wisdom is to walk in the ways of the Lord.

Prayer
Father, give me your wisdom. Give me a love for your ways and you directions. Help me to live wisely in partnership with your Holy Spirit. Amen.
