Scripture
All of us were like sheep that had wandered off. We had each gone our own way, but the Lord gave him the punishment we deserved.
Observation
This passage is a powerful description of Jesus' life and death. It's a wonderful insight into the fact that the events of the crucifixion were not just a human event but planned by God from the beginning of time.
The Son of God dies to take the punishment of the whole world. He died- we live forever.
“Although he is innocent, he will take the punishment for the sins of others, so that many of them will no longer be guilty.”
Application
Jesus died for me! The perfect sinless Son of God was punished so that I can be forgiven,
What awesome grace and mercy!
I did nothing to deserve this. I had no influence with God. But He did it anyway!
The grace of God is so wide and high! He could have limited forgiveness to the Jews- His own people. He could have just made it for people who were alive at the time of the crucifixion. He could have made it conditional on being good, or rich, or poor, or black, or white.
No-- God's grace comes freely to all, totally without condition.
What an awesome God!
Prayer
Your love truly is amazing Lord. Your grace flows without measure, without condition and to all who put their trust in you. Thank you for your great love. Amen.
Awesome is the word!
