One of the really funny things about observing American parochialism is that they generally don't realise the great practical joke that the 19th Century played on them.
When we wake up on the 2nd of April to all those funny spoofs that they are just putting on their emails and blogs, it's all like so yesterday!
Ahhh the joys of geography in a "globalised world" as they say (which is a bit like saying a planetised planet).
