How to avoid a speeding ticket

From the ABC:

Speeding motorist gives police child birth surprise

Police in Sydney's north-west got more than they bargained for when they pulled over a speeding motorist early this morning.

After police had stopped the car on Castle Hill Road at Castle Hill at about 5:00am (AEST), they realised that the driver's wife was in advanced labour and he had been rushing her to hospital.

The officers called for an ambulance, and were helping paramedics get the woman into the ambulance when she gave birth to a girl.

Inspector Denise Bennett says the police called 000 as soon as they realised the woman was in labour.

"Probably about five minutes later after the ambulance arrived, they were actually putting the lady in the back of the ambulance when the baby was born," she said.

"I'm happy to say the gentleman didn't get a ticket, so luckily everything turned out well."

Police say mother and baby are well and are being looked after in Hornsby Hospital.

  1. What a happy ending! That's what police SHOULD do, assist in a situation and not cause additional hardship. There was a man and his family here speeding to get to the hospital to see his wife's mother before she died. The police held him up in the hosptial parking lot and she died before they would let them go in to see her. I just can't imagine how heartless that horrible policeman could be.
