Scripture
So don't make judgements about anyone ahead of time- before the Lord returns. For he will bring our darkest secrets to light and reveal our private motives. Then God will give to each one whatever praise is due.
Observation
Paul encourages the Corinthians to look at Paul and Apollos as servants of Christ rather than as celebrities. They, like everyone else, will stand before God's judgement.
After the Lord's return, Jesus Himself will judge every person, not by their actions alone but also by their hidden and private motives.
Application
The approval or otherwise of men is totally irrelevant to God's judgement of us. What people approve of is often what God condemns, and vice versa.
I should not judge myself by the opinions that others hold. The only applicable question is this: Is God please with what I do and my reasons for doing it?
Prayer
Lord, you look at the heart and not just external appearances. Please reveal to me what needs to change in the hidden places of my heart. Amen.
My prayer exactly.
