Reflection on Isaiah 49:8-16

Scripture
This is what the Lord says, “At just the right time I will respond to you. On the day of salvation I will help you.”

Observation
The Lord promises to bring Israel back, to restore the people to the land. This is a reference to the exile in Babylon, and God is promising that at the right time He will set the captives free.

The Lord himself will guide their return. He will protect them on the journey and lead them by easy paths.

Contrary to the claims of feeling rejected by God, the Lord says that Israel is like a little child than can never be forgotten by its mother.

Application
God always answers prayers at the right time. We often feel that God is not hearing us because we want things fixed now. But God always acts a the right time, the best time, the appointed time.

If we feel abandoned by God because He isn't answering our prayers on our schedule, we need to confess that to Him and by faith accept that He does things in the right way at the right time.

Prayer
Lord I confess my impatience to you. Help me to hold on to your faithfulness even when answers to prayer seem slow in coming. Amen.
