Today's Photos

I had a great walk this afternoon and was able to take photos of birds that normally hide too well or are too quick.

THis one is a chestnut-breasted mannikin aka chestnut finch aka barley bird aka bullfinch. Scientifically it is Lonchura castaneothorax. It's a lot prettier in the photo than in real life becasue it is so hard to get a good look at it.

Crested pigeons are just about everywhere so I don't normally get inspired to photograph them. They are strange birds with their little squeak that they give when they take off.

The creek was totally calm this afternoon.

  1. Great shots! Our migratory songbirds have left for the summer. They all seem to have gone on the same day - sparrows, robins and cardinals.
