Reflection on Acts 9:36-40

Scripture
The news spread throughout the whole town and many believed in the Lord.

Observation
Peter travels around visiting believers. While he is in Lydda, a woman called Dorcas, or Tabitha, becomes ill and dies. Two men are sent to find Peter.

When Peter arrives, he is met by a room full of widows mourning Dorcas. Peter sends them from the room and prays, and then commands Dorcas to arise.

Because of this miracle many people believe in Jesus.

Application
What faith and trust it must have taken for Peter to speak out the command for Dorcas to arise.

Peter had a very close, intimate relationship with God. He knew that God was capable of raising the dead. He knew that God would use Him for this purpose.

My greatest need is a deeper and more intimate relationship with the Father. I need to spend more time in His presence seeking to go deeper and to hear His voice more clearly.

Prayer
Lord Jesus grant me the faith of Peter. Help me to hear your voice and to learn to trust you with that audacious faith in Jesus. Amen.
