Reflection on John 10:22-30

Scripture
“I give them eternal life and they will never perish. No one can snatch them away form me.”

Observation
People hassle Jesus for a demonstration of who He is. He tells then they have already seen and heard enough. They are not of His flock and don't know His voice.

Jesus promises eternal life for His followers. When we are hidden in Him, nobody can snatch us away from Him.

Application
The key to eternity is this- knowing Jesus and being known by Him. He is the one who sets us free from sin and death. He is the one who carries us into eternity.

If we know Jesus, we will also know His voice. Some chirstians have problems with hearing the voice of the Lord. They've been taught that God doesn't speak to His people.

But Jesus says clearly that we will hear His voice. This comes in several forms:

* He speaks through Scripture-- conviction or inspiration as we read the Word.
* He speaks to us as we pray. All prayer should be dialogue. We must learn to listen as we pray.
* He speaks through visions, dreams, words and other gifts of the Holy Spirit (1 Corinthians 12)

However He speaks to us, we should recognise His voice, and be prepared to do His will.

Prayer
Jesus, you say that your sheep will know your voice. Help me to hear your voice today as you speak to me. Amen.
