Reflection on Acts 9:1-20

Scripture
Immediately he began preaching about Jesus in the synagogues saying, “He is indeed the Son of God.”

Observation
Saul goes to Damascus with the intention of rounding up the followers of Jesus there.

Along the road he sees a bright light and hears the voice of Jesus. He is truck blind and now relies on his companions.

In Damascus, a follower of Jesus called Ananias is instructed by God to go and find Saul to lay hands on him. He does this and Saul recovers his sight and receives the Holy Spirit.

Application
We say that God can change anybody, but we don't really believe it. Ananias was reluctant to find Saul because of his reputation. He argues with God but goes obediently.

Saul, the great enemy of the faith, became the great apostle. Even those who seem the most hardened against the gospel can be won by the Holy Spirit.

Prayer
Lord you see the hearts of all people. You know who is ready to be saved, regardless of appearances. Help me to always be obedient to your call, even when it seems foolish to me. Amen.

  1. "We say that God can change anybody, but we don't really believe it."You are so right. We need to remember that God is way ahead of us and fall back on trust.
