Reflection on Psalm 130

Lord I am drowning
I am drowning in this sea
This sea of sin and conflict
bitterness and jealousy.

Lord you are my rock of protection
A fortress standing firm against the waves.

It's all my own fault
I know what's right
what you require.
I just do the opposite
Now look at me- I'm lost at sea.

But Lord you forgive me
If judgement was your habit
I would be dead.

You rescue me from this sea
You put a blanket of mercy on me
and ferry me back to the dry land

So I'm waiting Lord
I'm looking for that boat
to appear through the fog.

Praise be to God whose mercies endure forever!
