Scripture
Let love be your guide. Christ loved us and offered his life for us as a sacrifice that pleases God.
Observation
Christ's sacrifice for us was immense. The one who knew no sin became sin for us.
Therefore to be a follower of Christ means that there are some lifestyle implications.
We must clean up our act.
If you are a thief, stop stealing.
Don't get angry with other people.
Stop all dirty talk.
Instead of these things let love guide every action and every word.
Application
To follow Jesus means an on-going programme of repentance.
We can never say we have arrived- there is always a new level of holiness to be sought and new sins revealed.
Thankfully this is not a legalistic process to be followed in our own efforts. We have the Holy Spirit given to empower and equip us to live the christian life.
Prayer
Lord I confess that I am not holy- far from it. Please give me the ability to live entirely in your will. When I fall please help me to repent. Take me to ever higher levels of holiness so that your nature shines out from me. Amen.
