Reflection on Psalm 98

Sing a song of joy with me!
Sing praise to our mighty God!
He is strong and powerful
Mighty in deeds
I was sick and He healed me
Poor and He equipped me
Hungry and He fed me
Lost and He saved me.

Musicians play your instruments!
Singers warm up your voices!
Our God truly is awesome
and we must sing His praises
Drummers, guitarists,
Organists, pianists
Brass and woodwind players
Let's make a joyful noise
To celebrate our God.

Let all the earth sing
Let the rivers and streams babble with watery praise.
Let the ocean waves boom with joy
Let the kookaburras laugh
the peewees cry out
and galahs squawk to the Lord.
Kangaroos leap for joy
Koalas ruminate in glee
Hawks soar in delight

This isn't the time for quiet contemplation
Let's shout out our praise to God
Let every creature sing out
the deeds of our awesome God.

  1. 'koalas ruminate in glee'? Quite an interesting word picture :)

  2. You don't often see koalas do much else really do you?I often think koalas have an aura of wisdom about them, as they sit in their trees watching the world go past and ruminating!

  3. Maybe they could sleep with glee, or snuggle with glee. Ruminate is a very cow-y word - and koalas do not remind me of cows. I wonder, do koalas actually have enough stomachs to ruminate? Word of the day: ruminate.

  4. I guess that they aren't really ruminants but I'm being poetic not technical... they do sit still and look like they are chewing the cud, being very philosophical.People ruminate in the metaphorical sense, also, even though they are not cow-y.
