After erecting the tent on Monday afternoon and setting up the interior on Tuesday the Tent of Promise started ministry yesterday.
We had a ladies' meeting in the morning and an open meeting at night.
The focal point of the ministry is the Panorama of the Bible. This is a representation of the Bible story of salvation starting with Genesis, going right through the Old Testament and then the ministry of Jesus, the church age and the end times. The panorama was designed and produced by a professional graphic artist and is brilliant.
We had the High School lunch-time group through and they were guided through the panorama with 8 people in the group saying that they responded to the prayer.
I enjoyed the night meeting which was fairly low key. Pastor Tim Knowling preaches a good, simple message with a solid down to earth style. I was a bit worried that he might put on that evangelists preaching style that often comes across as phony, but no he was just himself talking about the scriptures. Excellent!
Today we have primary school students (Years 5 & 6) going through the tent in their scripture lesson.
What I like about the ministry is that it's just ordinary people serving an extraordinary God. You have to be really committed to be in this ministry... putting up a big tent every week, ministering for a week before moving on to the next place.
It's good that the local churches are supporting them also. They don't get that support everywhere-- in fact in their next two weeks at Walgett and Wee Waa they will be pretty well unsupported by the churches there.
I'll try to take some photos today and tonight and put them up here tomorrow.
Blessings
Keith
