Little Blessing

One of the great things about being a pastor is that you sometimes meet people who are kind, generous and thoughtful.

Last week I conducted a wedding service for Jamie and Dannielle, a couple who really impressed me from the first time I met them. It's hard to say exactly what it is about them but I just liked them.

Anyway we went through the pre-marriage counselling programme I use and met on a few occasions leading up to the wedding. I had quoted them a total of $194 for the various costs, of which they paid $100 along the way. (This is far less than for a civil celebrant- they charge more like $500).

The ceremony itself was nice, set among a grove of trees on a farm out of town. The weather was kind, with a light shower right at the end while they were signing the papers.

Danny's father called in this morning with the cheque for the remainder... but it was far more than the $94 I was owed, in fact the cheque was for $250!

They didn't have to pay that much. It's nice to see young couples with a sense of grace and generosity towards someone who offers a service in this way.

It's also a nice little blessing from the hand of God!
