Weather isn't climate I know but when you add the spate of cold records in the east of the country to this record in the dead centre, well you have to ask "where is the warming?"
From the warm and fuzzy ABC:
Alice Springs on track for coldest day ever
By Anthea Kissel
Weather forecasters say Alice Springs is on track to record its coldest day in history.
The coldest day on record was in August 1966 when the maximum temperature reached just 7 degrees Celsius.
Senior Forecaster Ashley Patterson says the cooler conditions are the result of a cloud band moving across the Alice Springs district.
"It's only got to 6.1 so far today," he said.
"There's still a fair bit of the fairly dense cloud band still to move through.
"It doesn't look like they're going to see much of the sun before the end of the day."
I'm sure the Warming Wizards will think of an answer for that too!
ReplyDeleteI noticed that a record high was set in Boston (I think it was) yesterday. But as Anthony Watts (http://www.wattsupwiththat.com) pointed out, the measuring site is at an airport, surrounded by asphalt and was 2-3 deg F warmer than any other neighbouring weather stations!
