Water water everywhere

This afternoon we drove around Narrabri and discovered that there is lots and lots of water around. The river is up, but not threatening the low-level bridge. The lake was a torrent, with water nearly as high on the lower side of the wall as on the right side. Ugoa St had water over it at the time but was passable.

Our creek came up quite high, peaking about 4 pm this afternoon but well below a normal flood height.

At the moment it has been fine for several hours with the sun coming out for a while. There is more rain forecast for tonight and possibly some respite for a couple of days. I suspect there will be much mowing around the town once things dry out a bit. For most people it will take a couple of goes to get the grass back into shape.

Here are some photos of the creek.

One interesting outcome of the damp weather has been the appearance of fungi of all kinds.

  1. I'm so happy you are finally getting rain! The fungi is beautiful - the last time I was in the state park there was a lot of fungi too, it's interesting how many different shapes and colours you can find! Also nice that the dog an enjoy the water. I think here we would be too worried about poisonous snakes.

  2. Rex has always enjoyed the water. Snakes can be a problem, but it's fairly rare for them to attack unless you get close enough to be a threat. It's a long time since we've seen mushrooms etc. Certainly very rare at the height of summer.
