Reflection on Psalm 29

Do you hear the thunder

Rolling across the plains

Like the rumble of a thousand elephants?

Do you see the lightning flash

Lighting the world for an instant

Setting fire to tall trees

Like a flaming bolt from heaven?

Do you see the river

Breaking its banks

Rushing down the hillside?

Uncontained it washes across the land.

Great is our God-

more mighty than the storm!

The wind rips across the sea

Rushes over the land

Uprooting trees

Smashing houses

Water gushes from the skies

Nobody can stop it.

Our God is mighty

He rides on the wind

The clouds are His chariot

His voice is the thunder

Worship the Lord all His people!

Fear Him and respect Him!

Know this:

God is more powerful than a cyclone

More gentle than a mother nursing a baby

Come into His presence with singing

and shout forth the praise of our Lord.
