Father 'beside himself' as 12-year-old daughter falls pregnant

Just awful. What was the mother thinking? Where was DOCS?

This is, in fact, what you get when a society abandons the concept od responsibility for self-determined rights.

From the SMH:

Father 'beside himself' as 12-year-old daughter falls pregnant

The Department of Community Services says it could have looked closer at the case of a 12-year-old, now pregnant and set to become one of NSW's youngest mothers, but it had to deal with more urgent cases.

The girl's mother let the child's older boyfriend move into their home when she was 11, and reportedly allowed the two to sleep in the same bed. When the girl's father, who was separated from her mother, found out about this he pleaded with DoCS staff to do something but they failed to act, Dubbo MP Dawn Fardell said.

He took custody of his daughter in March after his ex-wife was placed in a mental health unit, which was when he discovered she was pregnant, Ms Fardell told NSW Parliament in March.

  1. That is so horrible. I hope the father stepping in will help make the best of this sad situation.

  2. There are so many social norms that have been stripped away over the last few decades that leave children vulnerable. I don't think that the 1950's were perfect but we have a plague now of temporary relationships, no moral boundaries, drugs and alcohol addiction.... Then you just hear story after sotry like this one and nobody ever seems to ask what are we doing that is so wrong that makes these incidents inevitable?
