Reflection on Mark 1:21-28

Scripture
Jesus told the spirit: “Be quiet and come out of the man!” The spirit shook him. Then it gave a loud shout and left.

Observation
Evil spirits are real, despite the denials and scepticism of modern thinking. we are surrounded by a spiritual world which most people are blissfully unaware of most of the time.

Nonetheless, evil spirits continue to keep people in bondage through depression, delusion, psychiatric illness, addictions, confusion, unbelief, self-hatred and much more.

Jesus has authority over these things. With a quiet but bold command the spirit is gone.

Application
Jesus gives his people the same authority over evil spirits. With a word of faith, confident in the power of the Holy Spirit, we can command these things to go from our life and the lives of others who want to put their trust in Jesus.

Jesus brings us true freedom- freedom from all the oppressions of the evil one.

Prayer
Jesus, give us discernment to see when people are afflicted by evil and the confidence in you to set them free.

  1. Should give thanks that has authority over all things and all people, and the evil spirits submit Him, if passed by trials and struggles He won for us!
