New Drums

Last week our long-awaited drums arrived in church. Mick, our drummer, was glad to be able to play after a gap of a few months.

Alex was also glad to be able to drum again. We made him play his own drums.

But he just couldn't help himself. He said to Mick "You play those on that side and I'll play these three"

  2. He's a born drummer, Lois. So is Alex :lol:Alex just sits there and stares at Mick and copies exactly what he does. He's a bit young yet for lessons as he won't listen- he just want to hit the drums. But maybe another 6 months or so and he might be ready to learn.

  3. Great that Alex has someone to copy. I started piano lessons at 3, no quick progress at that age of course, but it's good to get into the habit of practicing from a young age.

  4. Mick is a renowned drum teacher and speaks highly of some outstanding 5-7 year old drummers. Margaret thought we should spend some time over the next couple of months showing Alex number and colour repetitions and patterns so he can then learn about sound patterns and rhythms. He's quite a good singer for a three year old- he gets tunes pretty well. So it's just a matter of getting things together in his head and he should soon take off.
