The Citigroup-Rubin-Obama Connection

Heard of Robert Rubin? No? Well then, here's a nasty little link up which you should know about.
Mr Rubin was director of Citigroup till December 2007 - yes, the same Citigroup that is today in desperate need of yet another massive taxpayer bailout. And yes, Rubin was at the helm, steering the Citigroup ship onto the financial shoals upon which, as a result of his efforts, it eventually foundered. And here is Mr Rubin in January of this year rubbishing the then downturn as "cyclical" and denying there was any prospect of a "financial meltdown".
Now you might think Mr Rubin and his malign financial influence would have made him persona non grata in the current economic crisis. But not a bit of it. Did you know that Mr Rubin is the 'puppeteer' in chief, the key influence behind the economic team of president-elect Obama? Yesterday's International Herald Tribune op-ed even goes so far as to call Obama's new economic team "a virtual Rubin constellation".
So let's get this straight. Robert Rubin, one of the chief architects of the current economic malaise is now the architect-in-chief of the Obama economic team which will get us out of the mess? Just want to be clear on the facts.

It seems Rubin was more concerned about his stock prices. He painted a rosy picture of the financial well being of Citigroup. Here is something that will really upset you about a company our government just gave $20 billion to bailout. http://mlb.fanhouse.com/2008/11/24/citigroup-prefers-naming-rights-of-mets-stadium-to-real-people/
