Andrew Bolt has the details of the calculations here, but it turns out that Coke alone is responsilbe for putting 1.2 billion tonnes of CO2 in the air every year. That is just the CO2 in the bubbles and deosn't include the energy of producing the gas, the drink and then transporting it around the planet. Disclaimer: I haven't checked the calculations myself, but the figures look to be believable.
So if you add all the other forms of carbonated soft drink, that's got to be at least 2 billion tonnes of CO2 that could be removed in a simple life-stlye change that involves zero cost to anybody (except shareholders in Coca-Cola) if we REALLY believed this global warming nonsense. That doesn't even include other fermented products like beer.
The thing is that environmentalists are not so much concerned about solving a legitimate problem as trying to revert us back to a pre-industrial agrarian "utopia" that never existed. Besides they like their soft drinks also.
So save the planet and drink water instead
