Parliament stroganoff probe: portion 'adequate'
A Federal parliamentary official has confirmed that he checked the size of the portions in the parliamentary canteen after a complaint from a Labor MP.
Federal Labor MP John Murphy complained to the Parliament that his wife was given a serve that was too small.
He later apologised for raising the issue in Parliament.
The head of the Department of Parliamentary Services, Alan Thompson, has told Senators at an estimates committee that he tried the stroganoff and was satisfied.
"There are essentially two dimensions to the stroganoff issue; one was about size of servings and my personal investigation there extended to actually ordering the beef stroganoff two days later and checking out that the serving was adequate," he said.
Mr Thompson confirmed that he was full after eating the meal.

Wow. I wish that was the USA's biggest worries. We are meanwhile watching our economy collapse.
ReplyDeleteAnd dragging ours down with it!Isn't it just wonderful what our elected representatives find time to worry about?
ReplyDeleteWTF? Is that article for real? Must have been a slow news day.
ReplyDeleteThe story is that some politician's wife made an official complaint about the size of the stroganoff servings at the Members' Cafeteria at Parliament House. It should be noted that the meals there are subsidised and a restaurant owner reckoned at the time that the serving size was OK and worth twice the price being charged at Parliament House.
