This afternoon we had a wedding- a very nice affair it was.
And in the middle of it all we were to have another batch of visitors arrive. No problem as there was a three hour gap scheduled between the service and the reception. We figured we would have time to greet our visitors before going off to the meal.
Unfortunately there was an accident on the New England highway this morning, which closed the highway between Scone and Murrurundi. The only possible detours add a few hours to the trip.
Our visitors now look like arriving at about 6 o'clock. Ironically the car load that left a few hours after the early birds was able to go straight through.
Unexpectedly, while we were drinking coffee a lady came into the church with a little boy. She is the Moree Anglican Minister's wife. She had been travelling home from Newcastle and had been sent via Coonabarabran, but she blew a tyre on her trailer not far from us and came in to wait while her husband who was travelling in another car caught up. So we had a good time of fellowship with them. She said that we were a real encouragement to her on a difficult day.
What a strange afternoon it is turning out to be.
