Well, since we arrived in NZ from Australia we have not really found a place where we have felt that we that we have
found our "tribe" so we have not really settled down at any one particular body of related believers.
So this morning the search continues.
This morning we visited Edge City Church. I found this church via the Australian Prophetic Round Table web site. I believe that the Pastor of this fellowship is Greg Burson, a man is an invitee to the Australian Prophetic Round Table.
Well what an interesting experience that was.
Let me walk you through the morning. The first thing that I noticed was the smell of fresh, real coffee from out of the front door,
mmm fresh coffee!! Anyway, as we entered there was a very friendly feel about this place, and as I looked
around the room and noticed the little café like setup in one corner of the room with people standing around talking with
genuine smiles on their faces, that reflected a sense of acceptance and contentment, I looked to my wife and smiled.
The service was due to start at 10:00 am and yet it was now 10:15 and no one was too concerned, it was like hey there
is great fellowship happening here, and it appears that this is just as important as any other part of the program. And it
felt that these people where happy to make room for this.
When things did get started, it was a young man from the front with some humble words of welcome and we are all friends lets worship together as friends. On stage, two men, dressed in everyday clothes, each with an acoustic guitar, no drummer, no keyboard, no back up singers, they began to just spend time with the Lord. It was raw, it was real and everyone was right there with them. They paused for communion and for a brief time to make way for a prophesy that came from the congregation and then when it came time for the main speaking part of the meeting, there was a wonderful encouraging word from a lady that did not drag out for a long time, it seemed like it was a bout 20 minutes, and everyone seemed to be fine with that. And through it all, the only mention of an offering was the advise that there was an offering box at the back. And after the word, more fellowship. And people made an effort to approach us and say hi.
So all in all it was a great experience, we will be going back again this weekend.
No mention of prams or computers!
Sounds like a wonderful experience!!
ReplyDeleteWe checked out the church's web-site and found that they are indeed very similar to us except probably bigger in numbers being in a bigger city. They are having a similar style of good Friday service although theirs will be in the evening and our is in the morning. They even had a weekend of continuous prayer on the same weekend in February that we did!
ReplyDeleteEdge is determined to be real and relevant to all generations. It is very relaxed and very God orientated. We (My wife and daughter and I) started there a year ago and have just been totally blessed by the expressions of worship and the freedom to move in a healthy and wise prophetic flow. Greg the pastor is on a three monthly sabbatical after 28 years of ministry. He has been both church based and itinerant as a prophetic minister and pursuer of Jesus and a man I have known and respected for almost 20 years now. Connecting with similar churches is cool. We may have a similar path. Blessings.
ReplyDeleteHi Sweetpeach,I met Greg years ago at a conference in Canberra. i was very impressed with his prophetic gifting.Great to hear from you!blessings Keith
