Dialogue With Student Son

I had this interesting IM conversation with Phil a little while ago: (For non-Australian readers, "wagging" means to skip a class)

(10:50:08) Phil: Do you know how much work goes into wagging nowadays? I had to go through my msn list and block all SCA-related people so they won't know that I'm at home and not in class. :P
(10:50:36) Mr Keith: Why are you wagging?
(10:52:29) Phil: Because I had a kind of late night last night with easter rehearsals at God In The City (a CCC in an old-school church where a smaller group of mainly graduates is doing the show on Sunday). It doesn't really work as an excuse because the main group of current students were just finishing their rehearsal at Oxford Falls when we got back. :P
(10:52:51) Phil: But it's only Ethics class that I'm wagging
(10:53:14) Mr Keith: Maybe you had better do an essay on the Ethics of Wagging
(10:53:52) Phil: hehe funny you should mention that. One assignment for the class is to write a report on an ethical dilemma we've faced or are currently facing. Now what could I write about? :P
(10:54:39) Phil: But I don't think it counts as a dilemma when you do it and not feel guilty about it :P
(10:55:38) Mr Keith: But you must feel guilty if you don't want anyone from SCA to know you're at home
(10:56:06) Phil: Quiet you
(10:58:06) Phil: Wagging never works if you're on CCC grounds, even if you hide in some obscure place (like CCTV). I did that in first year, and Pam saw me coming out of the edit suite (where I think I was only on the internet, I wasn't actually editing) to take a whiz. But she didn't realise I should have been in class. :P
(10:58:49) Mr Keith: Isn't there a verse in the bible that says "Be sure your sins will find you out"?
(11:01:20) Phil: And isn't there another one that says that when you repent your sins are forgiven and are no more?
(11:02:26) Phil: Yeah here it is:
Your sins are forgiven
And they are no more
They're out on the ocean floor
(11:02:31) Mr Keith: Have you repented?
(11:02:53) Phil: Yes. But everyone slips up again from time to time. :P
(11:03:51) Mr Keith: heh heh
(11:04:46) Phil: I still have an ethics tutorial this afternoon anyway, so it's not like I missed it all together :P
(11:05:33) Mr Keith: So you reckon it's only half a sin
(11:07:41) Phil: More like two-thirds
(11:08:14) Phil: Anyway, I got a class at 11:30 so I better go
(11:08:48) Phil: Good bile
