God At Work on Easter Sunday

This morning in my prayer time before church I was praying for some of our "Prodigals"- people who have left the church in order to pursue other things that seemed more attractive to them.

This morning one of them turned up in church for the first time in months- admitting that he had tried to do it himself and had messed it up, and now he needs to get right with God.

This afternoon I came over to the church to start thinking about tonight's message and another of our old friends turned up. Same story, same result. "I tried to do it myself without God, and I can't do it."

Praise God for such answers to prayer!

  1. That is great news. People sometimes get upset that a lot of people only go to church on the holidays, but this sounds like someone that is very sincere.

  2. I keep running into people who are emotionally stunted and go around in circles because they need a Father. Both these guys follow patterns that you can almost set your watch by. They both had absent or negligent fathers. They both need to let someone get near enough to love them, mentor and encourage them and show them how to live as men. They both need the healing hand of God in their hearts. We keep on praying for them and loving them as best we can. Hopefully they won't have to go too many more circles before they see how to let God direct their lives all the time.

  3. My son too!We talked while he was here for Easter and he still has a lot of very bad feelings for his father. I tried to let him know that I had let go of the bad feelings and he could too.I guess now I've reached the point where I don't care one way or another, if he does well, fine, if not, that's fine too. I wish Aaron could get even to that point, and after that, forgiveness.

  4. It's hard isn't it? Fathers have such potential to bring maturity, strength and courage to their kids- and much potential to wreck them also.
